You were so welcoming and your help with everything, from recommendations for the best chow to the most private tico (local) spots was priceless. Thank you for taking care of everything! We felt like kings for a week! Can't wait to return! Pura Vida Neil!

Wonderful place with amazing views!
We could not have been happier with our stay here! The house was large enough for the 8 of us, the pool was amazing, and the views were spectacular! Nicholas, the owner was very accommodating and the meals that their cook made us were wonderful!!! We will definitely be back!

La Libelula - Stunning Paradise
After extensive searching, we came upon La Libelula via VRBO, and decided this was THE place. Fabulous decision! Four of our friends (three couples, total) traveled together. Stephen was an excellent communicator regarding pre-trip arrangements. He connected us with Catherine, who arranged for a shuttle pickup at the airport (rental was delivered next a.m. to home). Since we wouldn't be arriving in Uvita until dark, we felt that was best-GREAT decision! One other couple in our group arrived earlier, so got their rental car (MUST have 4-wheel-drive...that driveway is STEEP) and drove from San Jose (airport) to meet Stephen. He checked them in and gave them a tour of the home before we arrived.  Licho and Darleen are the caretakers (on-site). They are delightful! Note that they speak very little english, so it's advised (and I'm sure appreciated) that you have some basic spanish-speaking skills (or an app) handy. They cooked three meals for us: one was on that first night-LOVED that we didn't need to worry about the meal that first night. NOTE: Typical Tica meals are LARGE! Prepare for leftovers (great with eggs and toast the next morning)! Their dog, Axel, came and visited us most nights. Sweet pup that was not a pain at all. If you aren't fond of dogs, I suggest letting them know so she isn't out and about. Stephen arranged three excursions for us: 1) Titi Tours (ziplining near Manuel Antonio)-EXCELLENT! 2) Cano snorkeling (boat ride to island, no hiking)-VERY GOOD! 3) Horseback riding/Falls tour outside of Dominical-the falls were BEAUTIFUL.

La Libelula itself: the bedrooms are air conditioned (grateful!), but the rest of the home is not. We spent the vast majority of our time on the patio or in the pool. STUNNING property and grounds. At the property we saw a lot of toucans, a Cristo lizard, a HUGE scorpion, a lot of cicadas, dozens of howler moneys (they howl early in the morning...super cool and not an annoyance), and a giant toad. We saw sloths, dolphins, turtles, sharks while on our tours. We HIGHLY recommend La Libelula - would definitely come back. Liked being in Uvita - lots of great restaurants and friendly market (see my Trip Advisor page for more reviews: https://www.tripadvisor.com/members/tarab250). More Notes: * Home is cleaned up daily * Read up on the no-TP-in-the-toilets (this was a surprise to us) process all over Costa Rica * Ants were vast on the counter to right of fridge (don't store any food there) * ENJOY!!!!

Tropical paradise with amenities and privacy
What a beautiful property. This home was beautifully appointed, with a pool area where we spent all of our waking hours out there when we weren't out and about. The downstairs living area was very nice, but it was much cooler to be outside poolside. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms, but the rest of the house is not, but really why would you want to stay inside while in CR. At the house we saw monkeys, a toucan, and other pretty birds. Stephen was great in guiding us to the house, and Licho and Darlene were unobtrusive but there when needed. Have Darlene cook for you for traditional and delicious Tico cuisine. Litcho fixes problems if needed, you can't flush toilet paper in most places in CR and if you forget, plunger services are needed. We travelled with two other couples. Great place, highly recommend this place!

La Libuelula....ahhhhh superb!!!
What a house.  Great spaces and really wonderful caretaker services.  Enjoyed the centrally located house.  beautiful vies and great value for our large party!  Only negative was the low water pressure and the gate was a bit hard to use.  We rented cars and drove everywhere from the house so we needed to use the gate many times while we were there.  Pool was beautiful and well taken care of.  Most enjoyable vacation our group has had in along time.  Thanks to Steve too, he was super helpful with the car rental location and getting us to the house on the first day.  On a separate note:  Jolly Rogers is a must for anyone going to this area of Costa Rica.  Great burgers and wings!  Live music was superb as well.

FANTASTIC!!!!!
this property in Uvita Costa Rica named LIBELULA, plain and simple, will exceed any of your higher expectations, we, a group of 6 adults, just had a very memorable 2 weeks vacation. Beautiful Villa with a very nice and spacious open floor layout, adding to it an unsurpassed outdoor setting with an awesome pool a beautiful and complete BBK with a 8 person eating table under a very nice palapa. All of this surrounded by a incredible nature. Tons of privacy even with a special mention of the couple Licho and Darleen that take very good care of making sure everything runs smoothly. Rain? Don't even worry, you'll enjoy it as well, more that you'll imagine. Looking forward to return

Great secluded villa close to town
Our group had six adults that stayed for nine days and La Libelula met or exceeded the expectations of all of us.  We have rented from VRBO since the early 2000's and this was the most accomadating of any we have stayed at.  We were looking for a secluded place that wasn't too far of drive to town.  It's difficult for pictures to demonstrate a setting but it is very private with a gated entrance that cannot be seen from the house.    The house has three choices of dinning for a large group; inside overlooking the pool and ocean, outside under a covered porch with the same view, or in the cabana (we had all our meals here). Darlene and Lecho are the care/grounds takers.  They are overly friendly and do a wonderful job of balancing being available and not being intrusive.  Darlene will cook dinner for your group for a very reasonable fee (we had her cook three dinners and we enjoyed having local food).  Each night that we came back ofter sunset the outside lights would be on for us and the house was tidied up.  Steve was our contact with the management company and he arranged our four bookings for sports fishing, atv, cano island snorkle and zip lining.  All was wonderful and just as planned. On the property we witnessed lots of wildlife such as toucans and whiteface monkeys.  You could hear the howler monkeys every morning but we didn't see them.  Needless to say we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book La Libelula again.

Perfect in every way!!!
We went to La Libelulia for a "family vacation"--so we were looking for a place safe enough for a 2 year old, exciting enough for our adult children and relaxing enough for us--- AND this villa hit a home run on all counts. It was exactly what we had expected and hoped for. The villa is gorgeous with lots of "out door" living space-- we had breakfast in one outdoor location, cocktails in another and dinner in the grass covered Tiki area!!! We swam, watched birds and monkey's, relaxed among the flowers and tropical plants..... what is not to love about that! The villa is a good 3 hour drive from the airport but well worth it even with a 2 year old-- not much tourist stuff going on here... just fabulous fresh fish and fruit, lovely people, beaches everywhere, and adventure if you want it. Our adult children loved scuba diving at Cano Island, jumping off waterfalls, kayaking thru caves and surf kayaking-- and i enjoyed kayaking in the mangroves, taking nature walks in the national parks and swimming and walking on the beautiful beaches. There is something for everyone there. Dinner was cooked for us on our night of arrival which was delicious and a treat-- after that we cooked ourselves as that is what we love to do together! I think the managers of this property have thought of everything-- and we hope to go back there in the future!!! It is a bit remote and the roads are a bit rugged (4WD definitely necessary)... and speaking some Spanish is definitely helpful-- but it was amazing-- really felt like we had our own little piece of paradise for a week!!!

Beautiful and clean house, beautiful grounds, and fantastic views.
The staff is super helpful and friendly. One of our regrets is we never had an opportunity to use the dinner services with how our activity schedule ran. You are close enough to town to where it isn't a chore to make a trip to the grocery store, liquor store, or bank, but you need a rental car for those conveniences. There are great beaches just a few minutes away by car, too. The kitchen is spacious and great for group cooking, and we enjoyed that immensely at breakfast everyday. We usually did an activity in the daytime, had an early dinner, then came back and relaxed in the pool (which is amazing!) with some homemade pina coladas. (Dos Pinos vanilla ice cream is insanely good) Highlight activities for us were the ATV tour in Uvita (bring a bandana for the dust!), sailfishing out of Quepos (we ate grouper for several days), and ziplining in Puerto Cortes (Osa Canopy Tour). We flew into San Jose and rented cars there for a drive down. We managed to get stuck in traffic from a nasty traffic accident and were very late in arriving. Even though it was technically after hours, they freely accommodated our late arrival. It was just bad luck on our part, but I think we'll be more open to taking commuter flights next adventure as the drive itself wasn't as scenic as we were hoping.
Everyone in our group agreed that they would come back to La Libelula in a heartbeat, so I can't think of higher praise than that.

Perfection
The house was exactly what I had expected and hoped for. A paradise on a hill with great sunsets and comforts. The manager made sure we knew where all of the local places were that we might want to visit. Groceries, pharmacy, restaurants and adventues. I won't lie, cried a bit when it was time to leave. A car is definitely needed. Either rental or there are taxis in the area.

Fantastic
Had a fantastic stay at this villa, and would recommend this property to anyone.  The building and grounds were really amazing, and we were excited to see the variety of wildlife on the property (including monkeys and toucans!).  We have a 2 year old and the pools were absolutely perfect for him.  There is an area that is about 10" deep which he loved running around and the "circle pool" which is essentially a hot tub with jets, but the water is cool and refreshing.  The pool is very big and plenty of space for adults to cruise around as well.  The pools look big in the pictures and they are.  It was the perfect pool setup to introduce our toddler to swimming and get him comfortable in the water.  I would recommend renting a car if you are staying here, and 4x4 is a must.  We were considering a mini-van and I am glad we got an SUV because the road and driveway would have been tricky/impossible without the traction and ground clearance.

The trip of a lifetime!
We just returned from a fantastic week here. This was a couples getaway (4 couples) without our kids. From the moment we arrived we were blown away. The views are incredible and the house is immaculate. Steve met us and showed us around. Through out the trip we kept in contact with Steve who provided us with all sorts of help and booked our adventures for us, including a trip to Corcovado and a horseback trip to a waterfall. Steve even provided a surf lesson for my wife! Licho and Darlene were also fantastic and cooked for us several times. The food was fantastic. They also kept the house and pool in great shape while at the same time giving us tons of privacy. It was without a doubt the trip of a lifetime with our closest friends and this house was the perfect backdrop!

We'll be back!
Even though the pictures are nice, they do not do this place justice.  It is amazing!  Everything from the house to the grounds to the pool was perfect, and we could not have asked for a better vacation.  Our family of four (2 adults, a 5 year-old and a 3 year-old) stayed at the house for a week and saw tons of wildlife every day (e.g. toucans, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, poison arrow frogs, toads, butterflies, tons of cool insects) just while enjoying the pool and yard.  Of course there's even more to be seen if you venture out and enjoy the surrounding areas of Dominical, Manuel Antonio, Bahia Ballena, Corcovado, etc.  The house is extremely clean and upscale, and the caretakers Licho and Darlene (and their son) are wonderful.  We can't recommend this place enough, and can't wait to come back with friends to share this treasure with them.

Couldn't have been more perfect!
This house is a dream. Immaculate, manicured outdoor space...lush and filled with exotic flowers and palms. Everything you need to be comfortable, gorgeous everywhere you turn. We have done a lot of traveling in Costa Rica...this property is a whole new class of Costa Rican luxury. With a large, isolated lot, we had our own private slice of heaven. The gates and the care takers keep the house secure 24/7.Our care takers were great. Very friendly and approachable. Helped us with everything we needed. Cooked us a few meals that were delicious. Gave us our space, but were always close if we had any questions or needed help. The property manager, Neil, was communicative and kind. We arrived to a fresh fruit basket, fresh-cut flowers and iced champagne. Furnishing was comfortable, decor was tasteful. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook. 3 Master Bedrooms and one bunk-room makes this a perfect place for groups of adults. The air conditioning in the bedrooms works beautifully, and the down stairs area opens up to let the breeze keep the house fresh. The glass enclosed staircase is an awesome touch...the whole back of the house is glass, so the beauty of the outside space makes the interior stunning. We are definitely returning, and plan on being regulars at La Libuela. Thanks so much!!!

Loved this property!
We were a group of 5 adults and 4 children (age 8 up to 16) and rented the villa at the end of March. I picked this property because I wanted a place that had privacy, a chance to see wildlife, but not too far a drive to activities. This place was perfect. The house was spacious and immaculate, with large bedrooms ( A/C in bedrooms worked great). The outside pool area was amazing, better than the photos. My kids were happy to spend the whole day in the pool( there were plenty of inflatable rafts and toys for all 4!) My youngest who didn't swim that well, was able to spend a lot of time on the pool's large steps and by the end of the trip was able to swim across the pool. The house was very private with only the caretaker's house visible. We saw toucans daily, usually early in the morning, plus a multitude of smaller birds. We were so happy to hear the howler monkeys most mornings and 2 of the days they were clearly visible in the nearby trees. All of the adults in our group got up quite early (5am) so we could enjoy the birds and monkeys. We loved the Domenical/Uvita area. It was super easy to find you way around.  There is a grocery store on the main road near the house as well as plenty of restaurants. We had no trouble finding kid friendly food places. Baker's Bean and La Fogata had good pizza plus Domenical had a good pizza spot. In Domenical we took the kids to Cafe Delicias which served chicken fingers, fries and ice cream. We made daily stops to Cafe Mono Congo in Domenical for strong coffee and frappes. We also ate at La Parcela and Villas Alturas, both have great views. While we ate at Villas Alturas we saw the  white face monkeys in nearby trees as well as toucans. Things we did - guided tour with Olman Otoya at Hacienda Baru- saw 6 sloths, one with a baby, iguanas, and poisoned dart frogs. Recommend guides as they have high powered scopes. Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary-loved, good for kids. Zip lining at Hacienda Baru( there is a larger one near Sierpe) and the beaches. I loved our stay at this villa! Neil was great as well as the caretaker, Licho. We didn't want to leave.

This house is loved !!
We spent 6 nights at La Libelula in March 2015.  There were 8 of us ( 4 adults/4 kids). We loved this house. The house was spacious and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The outdoor living space was amazing. The pool was larger than the pools at the hotels we had recently  stayed at in other parts of Costa Rica. We enjoyed playing with all the pool toys and the kids played volleyball in the pool for hours.  We saw more toucans and howler monkeys while we were lounging by the pool than we saw when we spent the day at Corcovado. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, glasses, spices, blender, coffee maker etc. There is even a wine cooler if you want to keep your wine at the perfect temperature. It was nice having Darlene and Leecho living across the property. They take very good care of the house and us. Everyday they straightened up the house and gave us fresh towels. When my daughter accidentally pulled a screen door off, Leecho was there to put it back on.  Darlene made us 2 amazing dinners.  We especially loved her guacamole, arroz con pollo and ceviche.  This house feels like it is far away but it is only a 5 minute drive to the grocery store. The grocery store is well stocked and we found everything we needed. We enjoyed having fresh french bread, croissants, and homemade ravioli from the Baker Bean. Neal was great at corresponding with us prior to our arrival. He provided us with a lot of helpful information. He was out of town when we arrived but Steven was equally as helpful at getting us settled in.  He set up surf lessons for us and even arranged an in-house massage.  It was a perfect vacation. We look forward to returning to La Libelula.

Luxury vacation home
We have rented La Libelula with another family for one week in March. We were four adults and four kids (age 10-13) and we all had a blast. The villa is fabulous. All four bedrooms are gorgeous. The villa is spacious and the layout great. Nature around it is beautiful, with large trees hosting howler monkeys and toucans. You are in the middle of the jungle, though beaches and restaurants are not far away. Darlene is an excellent cook, her arroz con pollo is memorable. Both Licho and Darlene took great care of us. It's a one of the best properties we have rented through VRBO.

Unforgettable!
If staying at a Ritz Carlton-like property is what you have in mind, look no further. Our family of five just returned from a fabulous week at La Libelula. The house is absolutely gorgeous and the outdoor living space is UNBEATABLE. We spent hours swimming, watching birds (loved the toucans!), lounging and listening to the wildlife around us. The noise the howler monkeys make is unmistakable - we heard them daily at dawn and dusk. On four separate occasions we saw monkeys swinging through the trees on the property. What a treat! The caretakers, Licho and Darlene, live in a separate home adjacent to the property and are top-notch. They kept the property tidy and politely ensure you have everything you need while at the same time respecting your privacy. It was a comfort knowing they were there. Our favorite activity was white water rafting - ask for Andy! We also highly recommend Darlene's cooking and the restaurant Por Que No - both offer delicious food with a view!
Bottom line: not a negative thing to say about this property. We have rented several homes on VRBO and have stayed in many fantastic resorts around the globe, and La Libelula tops our list of favorites.

Great home, amazing views, amazing service!
We just finished our family vacation at La Libelula (Spanish for dragonfly) and we had an amazing time!  There were 8 of us and the house has so much space and so many areas to relax that we did not feel like we were tight by any means.  We had 3 different groups arrive at different times because of flight delays, and the on site "security" (Licho) was great!  The last group arrived at 2:30am and he got up to let them in. The home is at the top of a steep dirt road down to town, and the owner recommends rental vehicle but we went without for the 8 days and it worked out great. Licho can call you a taxi if you need to get around, or some of the local tours will send someone to pick you up at no charge. I would definitely not recommend driving there from the airport at night, definitely get a ride!  We used Solid Rental Cars which is a great company and were on the ball and very accommodating with the changes in pick up times because of our flight delays. Transfer cost was $250/bus load. Unfortunately for us, we had to do 3 different pick ups because of the flight changes, so our cost jumped to $750 (3 different transfers), but all in all, they knew where they were going which was a bonus, they do transfers to this location all the time so arriving at night was not a problem.
We also had Darlene cook us dinner 2 of the nights...all I can say is amazing!! The food was spectacular and much better than anything you can get in a restaurant. All of the other nights we cooked for ourselves and the kitchen has everything you need.  We also used the BBQ outside and all went well. We were there during Cicada season and the noise they make is incredible!  They make a ton of noise during the day, starting at about 7:15am and are constant until 6:30pm when the sun goes down.  The first day hanging out at the pool we could hardly hear each other talk, but by the last day we were used to the noise.  They are huge bugs but are more annoying than dangerous as they don't bite. We saw Tucans, Macaw birds, lots of local smaller birds.  We heard the howler monkeys at night all around the home but didn't see any during our stay at the house (we did see some during a tour).
Each of the rooms is very well appointed with ensuites, comfortable beds, great lanais for morning coffee.  With about 10 various sitting areas, there are many spots to relax both in and out of the sun. I would definitely recommend this place for a family looking for a getaway.

Paradise in Uvita
My family and I spent one exceptional week at Libelula. Our group ranged from age 76 to 3 years-old (5 adults and 2 young children), everyone enjoyed it! The house is spacious, the bedrooms comfortably large, and the pool perfect. There are 3 sitting areas nicely arranged outside so the rain did not ruin our stay at all (we had a few showers). The view is nice and we saw more birds at the house than at the reserve. Falcons, hummingbirds, parrots, toucans, pecho amarillo would come to visit every day. Licho and Darlene are most generous, dedicated and made our stay truly wonderful. Darlene is such a good chef, we never cooked! I strongly recommend La Libelula for anyone wanting to experience la Pura Vida in Uvita!

There are not enough words to describe our amazing family vacation to beautiful Costa Rica and our stay at the incredibly luxurious La Libelula house.  Neil was very helpful in his recommendations from car rental to excursions and directions. Our family of 8 are the adventurous type and Steve helped set up excursions for us which included horse back rides to waterfalls, white water rafting and ATV tours through the jungle.   The on-sight staff of Lliche and Darlene took very good care of the grounds and pool plus cooked authentic CR meals for our family which were delicious.  I highly recommended this vacation home to others.

Trip of a Lifetime
I searched quite extensively online for the perfect house to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday.  It turned out to be the trip of a lifetime.  Our family consisted of 6 adults and 2 children.  The house provided everything we needed and had hoped for in a vacation home. The house was amazing inside and out. The decor was tasteful and the views were breathtaking.  We were able to see monkeys, toucans and hummingbirds right from the pool deck. The kids loved the pool and would have stayed there the entire time if given the choice.  The local beaches were great.  The location is perfectly centrally located to experience the best the area has to offer.  Steve was very helpful throughout the process. He booked our tours, which were incredible, answered all our questions and gave us great advise on the area.  Liche and Darlene were so sweet. Darlene kept the house fresh and tidy, cooked us a delicious traditional Costa Rican meal and always had a smile.  Liche took us to see the waterfall on the property, kept the outside spick and span, and cut open coconuts for us to try. They are a great addition to the house.  There is so much to do in this region for the adventurous and the property is the perfect compliment as the relaxing, beautiful place to stay. I highly recommend La Libelula and would love to return some day.

Fantastic Home
Our group consisted of three couples in the 55+ age group.  We had a wonderful vacation in a beautiful setting and a fantastic home including the outside pool, kitchen/bbq, landscaping and social areas.  Darlene and Licho were great and kept the property spotless during our stay.  Neil is a terrific manager and was on top of everything.  This place is everything you could want and more.  We want to return!

The best that Uvita/Dominical has to offer!
La Libelula is an beautiful property! We had a family vacation here and we will definitely return. Neil helped answer all of my questions prior to arrival and was a great help booking this property with ease and confidence. This home has a great location, is impeccably clean, super comfortable, open and airy. In the evenings we would open all of the doors and just have the sea breeze flow through the home - it was absolutely delicious. La Libelula is a short drive to some great surf of which we took full advantage of every day. The caretakers,  Licho and Darlene are a great bonus to this property as they are sweet and helpful with anything that we needed. Licho helped us spot monkeys and toucans in the trees and we got some great pics thanks to him. He also chopped us down some fresh coconuts for a snack! The views from this property are amazing and the lush tropical landscaping is incredible. Photo ops at every corner. We would recommend this property to anyone and hope to be back very soon.

True Costa Rican Experience!
We wanted to travel to Costa Rica with our two young children but didn't want the resort, touristy feel, but rather a more natural, private experience to take it all in.  We found this home online and was attracted to its location in the jungle on a mountainside and expansive view of the ocean.  Unfortunately, on our drive to the home from the airport we fell into a torrential downpour of rain, so we were not able to see any of the scenery on the way there. Neil, the property manager, met us and went over info on the home and sights to see while we were there.  The home is gorgeous and very comfortable and the air-conditioned bedrooms are very cozy at night!  We woke in the morning only to find the most gorgeous view from our bedroom balcony.....sweeping views of the countryside and ocean!  Not to mention the large, inviting pool.  The outdoor grill area under the cabana was wonderful!  We spent most of our evenings there cooking and having cocktails and watching and listening to all the wildlife around us.  A beautiful, non-crowded beach is right down the hillside (about 10 minutes drive) which we enjoyed very much.  The pristine sand dollars were everywhere!  The caretakers, Licho and his wife, were awesome and very helpful and cooked us a few authentic meals while we were there.  Each morning he would cut off fresh coconuts for us and his wife, Darlene, even made us a coconut dessert one night.  Yummy!  He even took time out of his day to drive us to a nearby waterfall and even stayed with us to ensure we could find our way back.  The drive into the town of Uvita is only about 2 miles away.  We could easily access the convenient grocery store each day, as we mainly cooked our meals at the house each day.  The locals are friendly and there was no concern for our safety at any point during the trip.  We did venture into Dominical (about a 10 minute drive) one day to shop and eat out at the beach.  Great food!  Would like to recommend The Baker Bean which is right down the hill from the home - great homemade pizza!  Also enjoyed La Parcela overlooking the ocean towards Dominical- gorgeous view and the monkeys come out in the surrounding trees about 1:00 each day.  On our last morning there, I awoke to a sound I've never heard before right outside of our bedroom balcony.  It was a howler monkey!  My son and I watched him for about an hour and were amazed!  The tropical birds are also wonderful to watch.  Would highly recommend this home!  Pura Vida!

Torn - should I share how wonderful this place is or keep it a secret?!?
Can’t believe it took me so long to write this review. Our week in paradise (at La Libelula) in April 2014 (2 families with kids ranging from 7-18), was so much better than any of us could have ever dreamed. After seeing the photos and reading the reviews, we booked the villa and hoped for the best. Neil was so accommodating through the entire process, and connected us with a car rental agency and tour group so everything was taken care of upon our arrival. While the drive from the San Jose airport to the villa is a little over 3 hours, it was well worth it to get to such an unspoiled piece of heaven. Upon arrival, we were all blown away by how beautiful the villa was in person. And while there were 9 of us, it was so spacious (indoor and outdoor areas), we never felt like we were on top of each other. We used each of the outdoor areas every day – coffee on the couches outside of the living room, breakfast and dinners (prepared by Darlene) at the beautiful teak table off of the dining room, lunch and afternoon drinks under the rancho (also had a number of conversations with the howler monkeys from here!) There was plenty of resting in the hammocks and the pool was perfect – temperature, size, and that it was just for us! We enjoyed all the area had to offer – surfing in Dominical (highly recommend Dominical Surf Adventures), ziplining, an afternoon at the beach and dinner in Manuel Antonios, the local beaches and plenty of great restaurants in the area. Costa Rica has so much to offer and the trip to the southern Pacific area is well worth the ride. We were able to quickly unwind and enjoy every moment as Neil, Lichu and Darlene all worked to make it such a memorable trip for us! Puravida is a common saying in our home now!

INCREDIBLE!!!
This property is absolutely everything that it is advertised as and more! The house is perfect for a relaxing vacation in luxury. Uvita has a wide range of high quality restaurants and local Sodas to dine at. I would strongly recommend this home to anyone that is looking to visit the area. PSA When they say you will need a 4X4 Vehicle please trust me you will. We went as a group of 8 never felt cramped, had a blast in and around the pool. Awesome Vacation!

Wow!!!
Me, my wife and our 6 year old daughter as well as another small family of 4 stayed for a week at this wonderful property and space was never an issue. Words couldn't really do the beauty of the property and the surroundings any justice. The house was immaculate and very well maintained. The care takers were top notch and were busy all the time doing our laundry, cleaning the pool, and even cooking our dinner when asked to for a small fee. We were fortunate enough to go on a fun offshore fishing trip in neighboring Quepos and brought back a nice Dorado for Darlene to cook for us. She really is a talented cook!! The pool was the hub of the house and well appointed seating and hammocks kept us close to the kids, but far enough away to enjoy some adult time. Very highly recommend this property any time of year. The house is top notch, secure, within civilization and the people are equally impressive!!!!! Pura Vida!

Magnificent trip!!!
Well well well, what a trip, house, vacation, experience. So this was our second trip to Costa Rica but our first to this region. We arrived 6/15 and left 6/20.
Upon our arrival in Uvita we met Neil and he showed us the way to the house. At the front gates of the property you are greeted with a amazing entrance that a 4x4 is a must have. You drive up the hill and there is the diamond(house) in the forest. A breath taking home that is all yours. You meet the staff that is very nice and helpful with whatever is needed. Neil shows you around and informs you of everything you need to know for the entire stay. Neil has a binder for you with tons of info that assists you on your trip.  The house is massive, beautiful, clean, breathtaking. The pool is huge and is cleaned daily by staff. Kitchen had everything we needed.  The house is so close to stores, gas station, beaches, and various tour companies.  We only had a few issues during our stay. But Neil and staff assisted, fixed, and helped with all of them the best they could. One was the rolling blackouts which are normal in the rainforest(there are flashlights in every room to assist). Second was the water pressure during certain times of the day and night which is also normal in the rain forest and the elevation you are at. Last was the inside refrigerator that had some cooling issues during certain times of the day. They had another full size fridge outside in a storage area that is also yours that works like a champ. Neil and staff were fixing/repairing/replacing the inside fridge ASAP they said, which ever was needed.
Our overall stay at the house was the best we could have asked for. Very safe, secure. Never had to worry about any of my possessions. The security, cleaning, maintenance staff are honest as can be in my opinion. Everyone on the trip would highly recommend this house if you are looking for a 5 star operation in this region. Thanks again Neil for everything and the amazing staff you have running the house day in and day out. Book with confidence and enjoy your stay.

Libelula
This was our first time in Costa Rica and we loved it! What a beautiful environment with lovely people. We traveled as a group of nine with our six children and one friend ranging in ages 28-12 and everyone was happy-quite a feat! The drive from the airport was challenging as we had difficulty at the rental car place (making the reservation but not keeping the reservation) and that set us back time wise which brought us to the house in the dark, highly recommend daylight! And a four wheel drive is a must! We were greeted by Neil, the property manager for Libelula and the caretakers, Liche and Darlin. These wonderful people really made the stay here so personal with their kind and endearing ways, our children were so sad to say goodbye as they had grown so close to us. They were willing to help us with anything we needed. Liche was more than happy to get a fresh coconut for anyone to drink and Darlin makes a fantastic guacamole! Their son joined our boys for an evening soccer game each night! The house is very private, beautiful, nicely appointed, comfortable, especially the outdoor pool area. Better than the photos! We ate all our meals outdoors, the back pool area is so nice you don't feel a need to leave even though there are so many beautiful beaches and activities near by. We learned that the screen less front door stays open all day and that is what the vibe is all the time..every night we were awakened by the sounds of the monkeys in the trees, the birds in the morning and the amazing views from the house. A few thoughts if this is your first trip to Costa Rica, the water in this area is fine to drink, we felt safe but heeded warnings to not leave any belongings in the car or on the beach. Not all locals speak english but are willing to communicate with patience. The markets nearby are fine for daily needs and the restaurant options are plentiful especially if you are willing to drive. Beware of all the pedestrians walking or pushing strollers on the sides of the roads, even at night! We only planned one excursion, a deep sea fishing trip in Quepos, fabulous! Next time we will pre plan some other excursions because we learned that they do book up. We are surfers so we took the time to explore many beaches and areas which really gave a a feel for Costa Rica therefore we really recommend renting a vehicle. We are looking forward to coming back as soon as possible!!

Fantastic service, beautiful views & phenomenal value
Our group of 5 just finished spending a week at La Libelula (3/4-3/9/2014) and I would totally recommend this property to others. You will find the property just as advertised, beautiful and in great condition. The house and surrounding area is lush and fully surrounded by thick jungle. We saw all varieties of wildlife at the house including: White Faced Capuchin Monkeys, Howler Monkeys, Iguanas, geckos and an endless variety of tropical birds. Neil was very informative and provided us with great directions to and from the airport which made the drive stress-free and simple (you do not need to pay the extra $$ for a GPS). Neil also pointed out some exceptionally great local surf spots and some delicious local Tico places to eat. Thx for the great recommendations Neil. Lecho and Darlene did an amazing job of taking care of the property (it is very well maintained and the grounds are very beautiful) and an even better job of cleaning up after us (doing our dishes, making our beds, doing our laundry etc…). The entire experience was magical and tranquil. I had no problems getting my deposit back after our stay, in fact, the entire process was very smooth. La Libelula is ideal for adventure seekers looking to explore the Southern Pacific coast or families / couples looking for a relaxing /secluded property. You’ll definitely want to rent a 4x4 vehicle to access the house as there is a slightly steep incline to get there, but that is why the views and surrounding jungle are so pristine. The week couldn’t have been any better.

Astonishing Tropical Paridise!
We spent Christmas Holiday at La Libelua villa and had a wonderful time. The villa is amazingly beautiful and luxurious. We loved everything about the villa, especially the outdoor settings. We spent every evening by the pool watching the sunset. From the moment we stepped into the villa to the day we left, Neil the manager, and Leo and Darlene, the care takers, took great care of us. Neil helped us with our rental car and all the activity bookings, while Leo and Darlene took care of our daily needs. Darlene cook many delicious Costa Rican meals for us. Thank you so much for making our vacation so memorable!

Wonderful Vacation
Words can not describe our visit to Costa Rica and this beautiful house! The pictures do not do the property justice. I was looking for a tranquil place to enjoy my family while taking in the wild life of the surrounding mountains and rain forest, as well as the beautiful ocean just below. This property provided just that plus a bonus - the caretakers, Lecho and his wife Darlene. They were very helpful and saw to all our needs. They were the best. The most memorable moment came one morning while eating breakfast by the pool and suddenly there was a parade of Capuchin Monkeys making their way down the mountain right next to the house! We must have seen 30 just that morning alone. Toucans and monkeys for your neighbors - that's what I call paradise.

PERFECT VACATION!
This was our first time staying in Costa Rica. We have traveled many places and rented many houses! This was by far the best vacation we have had! Anything you could ever need/want is in this house. The house is in the perfect location - tucked up in the jungle with lots of privacy (very secure) but still a quick drive to the beaches/grocery stores. Our group of 4 enjoyed the house so much we didn't venture out much during the day! We stayed by the pool most days and then went out for dinner (there are many great restaurants in this area). The outdoor living space is AMAZING! The pictures and descriptions don't do this property justice - you have to see for yourself! Neil and the property caretakers went out of their way everyday to make sure our trip was memorable! Neil was great about answering my many questions leading up to the trip. He will help you arrange any tour/excursion during the week. The caretakers made sure the house/pool were ALWAYS clean and they were extremely polite every time we encountered them! We can't wait to go back!

exceeded or expectations on all levels!
There were 8 of us staying at the house and it was fabulous to have 2 master suites with incredible views! Our 4 teenagers had a blast in the pool and we all enjoyed the wildlife! The property is immaculate and well maintained with plenty of options to retreat. We all had a hard time saying goodbye and we would all love to return to Costa Rica and stay at the house again! Neil was a huge help with organizing our activities and was quick to respond to any questions we had. We will be sure to recommend this property to all our friends wanting the same amazing experience!

Exceptional quality, style, location and managers made for a perfect vacation
Great architecture, large, comfortable, well appointed home, with beautiful lush grounds, huge pool and amazing views of the forest and ocean (from every room and the pool area!). It easily accommodated our party of eight (two families, with 4 adults and 4 teenagers) Safe, gated location with daily visits by Toucans and Monkeys. The home is a short (but steep, so 4wd is required, but that made it easy and fun) drive to the highway (which is in great shape) and the small town of Uvita, which has a bank, grocery store, gas station and other amenities. Three beaches are close by and the surf town of Dominical is only 20 minutes away. The groundskeeper, Lichu, and his wife, Darlene, are wonderful and took exceptionally good care of the property and us. She prepared a great meal for us one night and we asked them to join us. They are kind, warm and funny and the property owner is blessed to have them. Can't speak highly enough of the property manager, Neil Harding, who guided us to the house, arranged for several tours with quality operators (which only a trusted local can do) and provided a gift for my wife on her birthday, which she will treasure forever. Plus he arranged for a cake to be given to her on our dive trip to Cano Island (wow was a fantastic surprise!!). We have traveled to many parts of the world and stayed in several areas of Costa Rica. This property, location, managers and the adventure tours they arranged, made our stay nothing short of perfect!!! My personal thanks to the owners for letting us stay. To Lichu and Darlene for ensuring everything was perfect; and to Neil for being so awesome! Cheers and Pura Vida!

Perfect, Wonderful, Memorable, One of a Kind!!
We cannot thank Neil enough for all of his help in making our vacation truly amazing and unforgettable. We loved having Millie there to help us since Neil was on vacation; she was an absolute delight to talk to and a great resource for us while in Costa Rica. Liche and Darlene were simply wonderful. They were so warm, hospitable, and helpful; we felt like we were family by the end of the week! (Of Note: Liche and Darlene do not speak much English, but Neil and Millie are great resources to help you navigate and communicate). We went to La Libelula for our family vacation (7 adults total) during the first week of May. The house was perfect for our family. There were 4 bedrooms each with private bathrooms so there was plenty of privacy for everyone and yet we were all still close together so we were still able to spend time as a family. The bedrooms and bathrooms are so beautiful and relaxing. The beds were super comfortable and it was great having the air conditioning in the bedrooms for nighttime. Neil recommended and scheduled two activities for us and they were both WONDERFUL. Don Lulu's horseback/waterfall tour is fabulous; if we ever get the chance to come back to the area, we were all in agreement that we would want to do that again! What a fun adventure with the horseback riding, the waterfalls, the animals, the meals...and all the young men were so helpful and patient. Mario's fishing/snorkeling trip was a great adventure too! He was very thoughtful in that he called the day before and asked us which activity mattered more to us since it had been raining a lot and would affect the snorkeling. We chose to focus more on the fishing and we had a great time! He was able to spot a huge crocodile and a sloth for us and made it so much fun to fish; we all got a chance to reel some fish in which included tuna, snapper, and some other varieties. We had tons of fresh fish to bring back to La Libelula with us. We asked Darlene to prepare several meals for us including dinners and a breakfast and she did a wonderful job. Very tasty meals that appealed to us all. We would recommend putting together a short menu list of local dishes that Darlene is able to prepare/suggests because with the language barrier, it was hard for us to come up with ideas and then communicate them. Darlene would do laundry and clean every day and Liche cleaned the pool every morning and showed us animals in the trees. Thank you all!!! We hope to return!!! :)

La Libelula
a Libelula was better than what I had expected. My family and I enjoyed our stay in Uvita. Neil, and the staff that help take care of the place were outstanding with help and made our vacation perfect. Forget staying in a hotel. This is a perfect resort. It was peaceful, clean, and beautiful. We want to return next year and we will definitely stay at La Libelula. I read many reviews on other places, and after reading the reviews for this home, I thought okay I will give it a try. I am so thankful I did because this was better than any vacation stay in a hotel. Once you leave, I promise you will want to return. Thank you Neil, and staff for making our vacation an unforgettable excellent experience.

Wonderful time at La Libelula
We took our family of 6 to La Libelula in late May13. My wife, Lisa and I have been to this Region of Costa Rica before and knew our way around a little bit, so that was a plus. However, we were greeted at the house upon our arrival and Neil had a local attractions booklet waiting for us that was a great reference. We went zip lining, horseback riding and waterfall jumping, and even a day deep sea fishing...all arranged by Neil upon our request. Especially memorable was the deep sea fishing with Mario in Puerto Cortez area. We absolutely loved the house, amenities, and especially pool...which is very large! A gorgeous setting overlooking the Wales Tail in Uvita. The house is in a very convenient location, just up the mountain a bit from Uvita, but also situated between a number of great beaches, restaurants, and site seeing or adventure locations. That was a huge plus and made getting places quickly. We highly recommend this area, away from the more popular beaches closer to San Jose. We had a great experience at La Libelula and can't wait to return!

Awesome & relaxing Time!
Wow! We had such a great time at this property on our honeymoon! The listing description accurately describes the location and place! we couldn't of had a better experience! It was very private! We loved the pool, the rancho, being able to cook your own food on vacation is awesome, especially with the produce and meat being so fresh! The fruit basket that was provided upon arriving was awesome! The fresh cut flowers on the coffee tables were fabulous!! THe caretakers were great, laundry was always done and most days the pool and yard work was done before we got up! Neil was fantastic with booking our water rafting, zipline and surfing experiences. He also booked a romantic dinner. The scenery was absoltely beautiful! The trees, flowers and wildlife were amazing on the property. The monkeys added the finishing touches! Leecho the caretaker would also cut up a coconut for us to sip on! Uvita was so close to grab groceries if needed and most days we would head to Dominical for dessert. We would highly recommend this place to friends and family!!!!

Beautiful Paradise
We had the pleasure of staying at La Libelula over Easter week 3/23-3/30/2013. It was so much more amazing than we ever expected. First off the grounds were BEAUTIFUL!!!! The house was large and very well layed out for a large group. Very large bedrooms and lots of space over all. Neil the manager and the Caretakers were very accommodating and more than met our needs. We definitely plan on visiting next year and staying here all over again. We had 6 adults and 2 teenagers 14 and 18. Everyone loved the property and especially the end of the day hanging out in the pool and Ranchero. Uvita, Costa Rica and La Libelula are truly a magical place. Can't wait to go back. Oh and did I mention the monkeys. The monkeys were so entertaining every day. We have thousands of pictures to prove it.

gorgeous villa in paradise
We were a group of 7 adults and loved our stay at the villa. The bedrooms with ensuites are large and very private. The pool and entire outside area is fabulous...extremely well maintained and even more beautiful than the photos. It was like staying in our own resort with the cleaning services daily and amazing surroundings. The property is very close to the grocery store in Uvita (5 minute car ride) but feels secluded as you see no other homes. The location is perfect for exploring the area. We would highly recommend the property.

Splendid "isolation" but close to civilization, too
Yes, it looks as good as the photos. The villa has the biggest private pool I've ever seen. The kids loved the waterfall feature. View was fab. House beautiful and tidied daily. Dirty clothes just disappeared and reappeared clean the same day. You can also have your dinner cooked for you at a very reasonable rate. Neil's recommendations for day trips and adventures were excellent - fishing, snorkeling, mangroves, horse-riding, waterfall, and on and on...we saw so many different species of monkey, fish, bird and reptile that we started to think we were naturalists or explorers or something. This included toucans and about a hundred different frogs and toads in the back yard. We totally loved the deserted beach at the Whale's Tail - went there 4 or 5 times in one week. Several local restaurants were very good, too - kids thought the smoothie bar in the village was the bee's knees. Highly recommended!

Owners response to review above
Thank you for your constructive comments; we have now installed Satellite TV and fan in the indoor dinning room and TV room. We continually are making improvements to the house and property with our aim to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Again thank you and looking forward to your next visit Memorable vacation My husband, two daughters and son had a great vacation at this home, we were looking for a relaxing but adventurous week and got it all. This home is very comfortable and spacious the pool, hot tub and outside areas are amazing. It really makes the place with outdoor kitchen in the rancho we spent hours here cooking on the BBQ eating, drinking and having fun playing with the kids. It’s a real bonus to have the housekeeper and her husband on site to help out if needed and they do a great job keeping the house and grounds well maintained and at the same time not invading our privacy. The house is very close to Uvita which has good stores so it was easy just pick up anything we needed. There is incredible nature and wildlife everywhere just in the garden we saw white faced monkeys a sloth and many different types of birds including regular visits from Toucans and Tucanets. We have been to other areas of Costa Rica before but this area is by far the best the beaches and waterfalls are really impressive and there are a huge amount of activities close by to cater for everyone in the family. We all really enjoyed the horse ride to the Nauyaca waterfall, rafting and zip ling. All the activities the operators were friendly and professional, we wanted to do many more adventures but ran out of time. It was great to end the day around the pool watching the incredible sunsets eating BBQ and talking about our day of fun. We will be back and will recommend La Libelula to our friends it is great for a family vacation. Thanks everyone for a memorable vacation!!!

Christmas and had an awesome time
6 of us spent a week in this house over Christmas and had an awesome time. Neil, the property manager, knows the area very well and helped line up top rate diving, surfing, and zip lining excursions. He was also very helpful with driving directions to and from San Jose. The house itself is gorgeous. It’s brand new (I think we were the third group to stay there) and has all amenities you need for a very comfortable stay. The pool is fantastic and there’s an outdoor bar area with a grill if you want to barbeque. The views off the deck are stunning and make for great wildlife viewing (we saw all sorts of birds and monkeys) as well as killer sunsets. It feels pretty secluded but is really only about 5 minutes up the hill from the main drag in Uvita where you can find a few markets and restaurants. It’s about 10-15 minutes from a number of different beaches, all of which are gorgeous, and 20 minutes from Domincal, a great surf town with some nightlife and good waves. Since it’s a new house there were a few quirks still being worked out (figuring out some of the lights, a running toilet, etc…) but they were really minor and didn’t affect us too much. I would imagine they’ve all been taken care of by the time you read this anyway. There are two caretakers, Licho and his wife Darlene, who live across the courtyard. Darlene cleans each day and does laundry every few days for the guests and Licho looks after the pool, outdoor area, and is a general handy man in case you need anything. They are extremely warm, nice, and very informative about the area if you speak Spanish. They took very good care of us while we were there. In all I would definitely recommend this place to anybody travelling to the Uvita/Domincal area. It’s perfect for groups of friends or families with children. It was very hard to leave and we hope to be back! One word of advice: wherever you’re going in Costa Rica I would recommend renting a car with 4 wheel drive. Many of the roads are dirt/rock and it makes getting around a lot easier. Happy Travels!
