Gorda Vista has been built and furnished to high specifications. Construction was recently finished in August 2012. The villa has been designed to be the ideal vacation property, which makes the most of its beautiful location. It encompasses this with the concept of outdoor living. The property is private and has a gated entrance. It is secluded and located on the mountainside surrounded by forested jungle and wildlife. It is at an altitude of 564ft above sea level with cooling breezes off the ocean and mountains. It is ideal for a family vacation, a couple for a honeymoon, romantic get away or an adventure vacation. The entire ground floor has been cleverly designed to integrate the pool, deck, covered terrace, kitchen and lounge into one outdoor living space. It can be easily changed into separate outdoor and indoor spaces by simply closing the large glazed doors that are on two sides of the lounge wall. The top floor has two bedrooms both with air-conditioning, on suite bathrooms and ocean view verandas. The master bedroom has a king size bed and large on suite bathroom with a sandstone walk in shower big enough for two. The second bedroom can be used for children or a couple, as it has two single beds that can be pushed together to make one king-size bed. There is also a comfortable queen-size convertible bed in the lounge. The 45-foot lap pool with infinity edge overlooks Dominicalito Beach. It has a wider area adjacent to the house with two tiled sunken chairs and a raised table to relax in the pool water whilst sipping your cocktails and watching the sunset into the ocean. Gorda Vista stands on a 5 acres of private tiered estate with a lower landscaped area with walking paths winding round over 100 different varieties of well tendered tropical plants, herbs and fruit trees which include Papayas, Star Fruit, Mangos, Lemons, Avocados, Mandarins, Pineapples, Oranges, Bananas, Plantains, Cashews, etc. These trees and plants are presently still young and being nurtured but if you find any herbs or fruit ready you are welcome to eat them. The location of the property will make your vacation easy as the local stores, banks, restaurants and amenities are only a 15-minute drive away. There are a great variety of tours, activities and adventures for all ages and levels of excitement. They are all just a short drive away and can be booked and arranged by us. Bed linen and towels for both bathroom and pool provided. The villa is easy to reach with only a scenic 125 miles or 201 km drive from San Jose international airport (Juan Santamaria) on the newly constructed highways.
Just returned from our second stay at Gorda Vista. Our first stay was just a couple of months after the house was built. We were pleased to see that the property has been maintained very well. The landscaping has matured and grown quite a bit, but is still kept up nicely. Renters tend to be very hard on properties, so it was really cool to see that Gorda Vista is still just as nice as when it was new. Doug and Janet have added a carport and BBQ palapa, as well as a roof over the stairs, since our first visit, which all enhance the property. If you've never stayed here and are looking for the perfect place to headquarter from, rest assured that Gorda Vista will not disappoint. It's secluded and private, has a killer view, is close to anything you want to do, and Neil and Stephen are helpful and easy to work with.

Costa Rica at its finest
This was out 5th visit to the South Pacific region and will not our last. The house, its location, the services, everything surpassed our expectations. What a great way to start you day by taking in the breathtaking views, walking those wonderfull gardens, listening to howlers while having your coffee . Pura Vida at it's best. Thank you !
If you are hesitating don't . The road leading to the house is safe and easy. It' s Proximity to Domincal village, the best beaches in Costa Rica and more sightseen on site than in a natural park makes this home the perfect vacation home.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at Gorda Vista, and we still talk about it almost every day. The house is perfect, the grounds are impeccably landscaped and Steven and Neil were so helpful with any request. There is plenty to do but it's also a guilt-free way to just lounge around the pool, go to town for groceries and then come home to watch the sun set. We have spent the last several years renting homes in various locations through VRBO but this is honestly the most lovely and most memorable. Our first night was a comedy of errors due to travel and weather but Steven and Neil took care of us and made sure we were settled even though it was quite a late evening by that point. We are forever grateful for their empathy and concern for our safety. We hope to come back in 2016- it is a truly magical place to spend 2 weeks.

Perfect Vacation at Gorda Vista
Our family of four (including two young teenage sons) stayed at Gorda Vista for a glorious week in July. My late post in no way reflects how we felt about the home. The house was perfect for us --- so perfect that I hate the fact that we have to share it with others. We would return to Gorda Vista in a heartbeat if we're ever lucky enough to go back to Costa Rica.
We were able to have many adventures in Dominical and near Manual Antonio as well as further south. We recommend Dominical Surf Adventures (Savegre River white water rafting), El Santuario Canopy Tours (zip lining), and horseback riding to Nauyaca Waterfalls. We visited several beaches in the area. Our favorite beach was Playa Ventanas and a close second was Marina Ballena (where you can see the Whale's Tail formation at low tide.)
Neil and Stephen were very helpful and answered all of our questions before and during our stay. The house itself has a well-stocked kitchen and very comfortable beds. We didn't see a single rental we would have preferred to stay in. Once we made it to the house every afternoon, we were completely alone. You can't see any neighbors. All we could see and hear were howler and capuchin monkeys, toucans and all sorts of other wildlife. It was as close to paradise as we could have asked for. It's a great place for bonding with your family and/or friends. Many thanks to the owners for creating a luxurious retreat in the middle of the jungle.

Family of five - Beyond expectations!
Pictures are an accurate representation of the beauty of the area and the home. Immaculate and luxurious, but also well equipped and family friendly (as long as the kids are comfortable with stairs - bedrooms are on second level). Steve was very helpful. Kids loved surfing, swimming and the Nauyaca horseback tour. Would definitely stay here again and have shared this link with several friends.

Our stay in Gorda Vista, Dominical
Gorda Vista is a perfect place to stay in Costa Rica. The house is really beautiful, pool, perfect view to the pacific sea, alown in the middle of the jungle, good places to visit near Dominical. We enjoyed staying there a lot, especially for the last week of a holiday after travelling round with busses it's really a perfect place to relax, go surfing, cook your own things etc..

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at the Gorda Vista house. It's location was central to everything we wanted to do and provided comfortable accommodations to come back to after our daily adventures. The landscaping was beautiful and there was lots of wildlife. We loved the pool and the outdoor living area. Neil and Stephen were very helpful with their detailed directions and recommendations. Definitely would go back!

Pura Vida in Dominical - Stunning Home and Perfect For Families
My family just returned from a wonderful holiday in Costa Rica, including 5 nights at Gorda Vista. The house exceeded our expectations in so many ways - attention to detail, condition, location, seamless indoor/outdoor living, to-die-for infinity pool and stunning views of the ocean and surrounding jungle. We had just come from Manuel Antonio, of which we also enjoyed, but we found Dominical to be a smaller, less "touristy" town with the friendliest people we met on the trip and as such we ended up preferring Dominical. It is reminiscent of the smaller "surfer" towns of Costa Rica years ago when I first was introduced to the country. And, there is now a nice paved road between Manuel Antonio and Dominical so getting there was a breeze. And, it was just an hour or so to Sierpe which is the gateway to Corcovado National Park- which was another great adventure we had. Our "go to" spots in town for dining including Café Mono Congo, PorQueNo?, and El Pescado Loco. We most enjoyed, however, picking up uber fresh fish at La Macha (recommended by Steve), fresh produce at the local market and farmers market in town and dining al fresco by the pool. Neil and Steve were awesome and extremely professional and very helpful in terms of local recommendations and assistance with booking excursions. We have just returned and are already missing the Pura Vida living of Costa Rica, sounds of the jungle lulling us to sleep, and the overall experience and will most definitely go back to Gorda Vista and Dominical in the near future.

Exceptional Rental, Beyond Expectations!!!!
I recently stayed at Gorda Vista with my husband and our two children ages 11 and 12. The house was PERFECT for our family vacation in Costa Rica. The home design and attention to detail make the house both functional and luxurious. The views and surrounding rainforest with abundant wildlife make it difficult to leave, and a reprieve to return to after a day of excursions. The location was excellent for exploring both southern and northern regions of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. The management staff (Neil and Stephen) were very helpful, they made the booking processes seamless for the rental and excursions. This home was beyond our expectations, we highly recommend it and we plan to visit Gorda Vista again and again.

Amazing Stay!!!! Super detailed review of the home
My husband and I booked this property for our honeymoon from June 21st -June 30th 2015. Everything was perfect!!!! Both Neil and Steve who will handle your account (their company is called "yougetthere.com") were very helpful and informative.
We landed at SJO airport and rented a car to drive to Domincalito where the home is located. I highly suggest getting a GPS. The directions you’ll receive from yougetthere.com were thorough; however it is still difficult to navigate as many of the highway on-ramps are not listed. Average cost is about $8 a day for the GPS- so worth it! Along your drive to the house you drive by many "sodas" which are basically little local rest stops/ restaurants. All of them are safe and delicious. Neil and Steve will suggest having your car in view while you eat, although Costa Rica is very safe there is a problem with petty theft- so take their advice (we were careful our whole trip to not leave our car and house keys, money, and IDs in our bag when we went swimming at the beach ect ect and we had no problems and luckily no incidents! Leave important items at the house or put it in a plastic bag and in your swim trunks). On your drive you will come across a big grocery store called MaxiPali (costa ricas version of walmart) where you’ll want to stop in to stock up on food, sunscreen, ect ect. The home includes all appliances, showering towels and sheets and the water is also fine to drink. It even includes 4 pool/beach towels (at least when we stayed it did) so no need to pack or purchase those either. The first Maxi Pali you’ll see is near the Casino in Jaco called CROCS. This MaxiPali is about an 1hr 30min from the house (we accidently stopped at this one) The next Maxi Pali is much closer to Dominical (about 30 min) and this is where you want to stop, both grocery stores are hard to miss! When we arrived in Dominical, we met with Steve at the "Information" building and we followed him from there to the road the house is located on, about 4 minutes away. When we reached our road Steve had us put the rental in 4 wheel and we drove about 7 min up the mountain to the house. What a blast! When we arrived to the top we were welcomed by the homes beautiful gate which electronically opened for us with the push of a button! After Steve checked us in he showed us their info book, which included everything you need to know about great restaurants, beaches, and tours. We were so excited about the house we didn’t read all the fine print, but later we found that any question we had about locations or house were ALL listed in the book. Sooo helpful! The house also included two cell phones with minutes so you can call local numbers to book tours or make dinner reservations without using you data internationally. Amazingggg! I would suggest taking one with you when you leave the property in case you get a flat tire or something. There was something wrong with the Wifi when we checked in, so Steve had someone come fix it within two days and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for our trouble! But it was no trouble AT ALL! It’s nice to disconnect from time to time, especially on vacation. The house also has a bunch of movies on Blue ray! All in all we were thrilled with the house. Super private, super great service, and great location! Beach info: The Dominical beach (which is down the road form the “information” building) is great! And you can drive RIGHT up the beach. There are many restaurants on the strip. All of which take US dollar. The best beach we went to though was Ventanas beach. Just head south from the house and you’ll see signs for it. (and again all the info you’ll is in the info book at the house) This beach has caves, so go at low tide so you can travel through them! Best restaurants: For dinner –“ Porque No?” About a half mile north from the house on the left side. You have to call and make a reservation though. For breakfast- Café Mono Congo located right in dominical, to the left of the information building. Or Café Delicious (try their Prado Crunch icecream—insanely good!) Thank you Gordo Vista! See you again!!

The purific house
This was our fith time to Costa Rica in the last nine years using VRBO to stay at seven different houses. All have been wonderful but Gorda Vista was the best. This is an open air house with a great view and pool. It is easy to get to, secluded and the wildlife viewing is excellent. There are many tours close by. It amazes us how many great restaurants are in the area, Exotica and Citrus in Ojochal, Jungle Blue and Sabor Espano in Uvita and Patrons in Dominical. The Roadshack Deli for sandwiches, Jolly Rogers for great wings and burgers, Tortilla Flats for tuna, cold Imperial and people watching. The ATV tour out of Uvita is a must do and if your adventurous try the Paragliding with Come Fly with us it was amazing.

We had been planning this trip for some time and had to delay once. Neil was so accomodating and understanding with the cancelling and rebooking. The villa was spectacular. The pictures on the website were truly accurate- you got exactly as it looks. Neil from yougethere was awesome. He made the trip so easy. He provided such great information on the area, local activities such as zip lining, food, shopping. In fact he helped us book a couple of our excursions which was a great help. He provided directions how to get to the villa which were spot on plus so many little tips along the way which enriched the whole experience.
The villa was beautiful. The scenery spectacular. Neil provided lots of valuable local info on the fauna and animals and we had a troop of holler monkeys come visit nearby. We had an emergency towards the end and Neil was there to help.
We have recommended yougethere to anyone who will listen and who are interested going to Costa Rica. We will also be returning this year for a visit and explore working with Neil in purchasing property in the near future.

Relaxing Beautiful Retreat
We were 2 couples escaping from a Mn winter, and the home was everything we had hoped for! It was spacious and the views are #1! We were fortunate enough to view many toucans and monkeys, and even spent a day watching a SLOTH move in a tree (about 3 feet). The area is definitely not "touristy" and we enjoyed that. Restaurants are open air and have fabulous seafood. Neil and Stephan from yougethere were also very helpful. The towns of Dominical and Uvita are very enjoyable for people watching. Beaches are brown sand Pacific beaches, and depending on the surf you can stroll for miles. The OSA ziplining and Jungle ATV tours both get HUGE thumbs up :) 4 wheel drive is a necessity- and be forewarned that government required insurance and a rented GPS can quickly run the rates up. Grocery prices and liquor are fairly high, but restaurants were reasonable in our opinion. Try to guess what you need before leaving the duty free shop at the airport. We WOEFULLY underestimated. Also . . .we were there in "dry season" and saw no mosquito's :) In summary . . . a fabulous house with a great setting for relaxing and enjoying life. We missed it within 24 hours of leaving.

The house is stunning - views, privacy and comfort. It had everything we needed and everything worked. We spent many hours just relaxing at the house. The location requires a four wheel drive vehicle, but they are easy to come by at Costa Rican car rental agencies. Dominical is a short drive and offers a great beach with surfing lessons, restaurants, bars and shops. Dominicalito is closer and is much smaller and more quiet. We liked both. The nearby freshwater swimming hole was a hit with the kids and adults - we made several visits. Neil was very helpful. We hope to return.

All you could ask for
From beginning to end the Gorda Vista experience was exceptional, making for our best family holiday yet. there is no end of things to do within easy reach of the villa, and we enjoyed the rustic charm of Dominical and it's people. The house itself was without fault and our young daughters spent every available moment in the pool - in fact running from the car straight in to he pool was a frequent occurrence. Neil and Steve were excellent. Best restaurant was Por Que No, and our girls loved the horseback ride to the Falls (Dad not so much) and the zip-lining at Osa. We took the 'long way' back through the mountains which was worth the effort as well.
Costa Rica will always been fond in our memories. Thanks for making this beautiful villa available.

Luxury Jungle Living
This property provides a close up jungle experience with all of the daily comforts one is used to. The privacy is exceptional. Having a 40 foot lap pool to yourself along with the outdoor shower is a wonderful thing! Sightings of monkeys, butterflies, humming birds, parrots and listening to the sounds of the jungle are an experience I will never forget. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the indoor-outdoor living is convenient. The kitchen is huge and a great place to cook. We had one day of rain and had plenty of room to hang out without feeling cramped. The location is a great base to explore from but my favourite days were the ones we stayed on the property to enjoy it. I would highly recommend this vacation rental to couples and families. The property has wifi, and my cell phone from Canada had coverage everywhere I travelled in the Dominical area including this property.

We loved Gorda Vista...Amazing villa in the middle of the jungle! Neil and Steve were very helpful and attentive before and during our stay. The villa was comfortable and the pool area was magnificent! We enjoyed many a beautiful sunset from the pool! We loved the privacy and enjoyed seeing the white faced monkeys, toucans and other wildlife! We spent a day at Manuel Antonio National Park and saw a Sloth and Howler Monkey, among other things! We ate at PorQueNo Oceanside restaurant several times--was very good! Would definitely recommend Gorda Vista to friends and family and look forward to a return visit!

We LOVED Gorda Vista!
Gorda Vista was wonderful! We are a family of 5 - kids are 17,15 and 11. My 15 year old son slept outside each night by the pool. He thought it was such a cool experience. Neil and Steve were great and took care of us when we needed help and booked our excursions too! The house was very comfortable. We were able to see and hear monkeys about 3 of the 5 days. Plenty of other wildlife too. Very private and lots of space to hang out as a family. We loved the town of Dominical. Everyone was very friendly. We wished we had a few more days just so we could hang out at the house longer. Beautiful sunsets. We would definitely stay here again.

Loved Gorda Vista
Gorda Vista looked just like the pictures on the website, but of course more beautiful in person. We absolutely loved the place; it was perfect! The house was more than spacious enough for the two of us on our honeymoon. There was plenty of room to cook on site with the large indoor kitchen and a grill area outside. The house also has many different spaces available for relaxing. The house and pool were freshly cleaned. Neil was so welcoming, allowing us to follow him in car to the house and giving us a tour of the place upon arrival. He also offered great suggestions of things to do while in Costa Rica and places to eat in the area. We had great communication with Neil while planning our trip, which was very helpful and he was always available once we were at Gorda Vista, as well. We felt very safe at the home, being in a gated area, given the keys and provided with cell phones. We have stayed at resorts before, but after this stay at a rental home we will be choosing rental homes more often in the future. We truly enjoyed our stay at Gorda Vista and can’t wait to get back to Costa Rica. Thank you Neil for everything!

The place is AWESOME!!!
My wife and I just stayed 5 nights here for our honeymoon. I've stayed in amazing hotels and properties all over the world and this may have topped them all. The kitchen, furniture, bathrooms, pool, washer/dryer, landscaping are all top notch and very well maintained.
The views of the ocean from the patio, pool and living room are stunning. We really didn't want to leave any of the nights. The sounds of the jungle are very soothing and with all the lights out at night the stars pop out of the sky. The TV has 300 movies on a hard drive to watch, which was nice for lazy afternoons. Good quality iPOD dock as well, was great to have loud music - with no neighbors anywhere around it was fun to be loud.
The place is really secluded, you can't see any other properties. The dirt road to the property is easy (probably don't need 4x4 but better safe than sorry). It's only 5 minutes to get down to the main paved road. From there - you are right at Dominicalito Beach and it's only another 5 minutes to Dominical Beach. Plenty of cool restaurants and places to get groceries nearby. Day trip to Manuel Antonio, hike to an AMAZING waterfall, surf everyday - then back to the palace everything.
Neil is a class act, and a really cool guy. I love to meet people that take great pride in what they do. He told us everything we needed to know - including a great recommendation on where to buy fresh fish to cook (yum) and where to go to eat if we didn't want to cook. Directions were spot on and very easy to follow.
I'll return to Dominical and will rent this place from Neil again. Would recommend it to anyone.

Perfect House and Location
My husband, son (age 10) and I visited Gorda Vista in May and absolutely loved the house. First, as everyone else has mentioned, Neil is the perfect property manager. Not only was every detail provided prior to our visit, but during the trip he was easily reached via the house phones provided, and responded quickly. For our first time in the country it was very comforting to know he was close by and readily available if needed for questions or help.
The house completely exceeded all of our expectations.
It is finished beautifully, stocked well and extremely comfortable. The landscaping is amazing, and we were lucky enough to enjoy a fresh pineapple from the garden, which was the best we have ever tasted. We enjoyed the pool every day and really appreciated the covered outside area, even when it rained in the evenings - SO RELAXING! Unfortunately, we did not get to see any monkeys while we were there, but did see some very interesting wildlife, including a toucan and a poison dart frog! The house is well stocked for cooking and we enjoyed watching movies most nights. I would highly recommend this to families with 1-2 children or two couples. We will definitely be returning!

Awesome and Amazing – Would be an Understatement
WOW - where do I start? Well, from the beginning. The property manager, Neil, is probably one of the most organized and responsive persons I have ever dealt with. The booking process is easy and straight-forward, and upon arrival in San Jose and during the drive to Dominical Neil's detailed instructions left no room for confusion or anxiety. Even though no less than two cell phones will be ready for you at the house, I suggest bringing an old GSM phone and buying a $10 phone card at the airport. That way you can be in touch with Neil during the drive.
So, now on to the first impression of the house and the Dominical area. The drive from the main road to the house is an adventure in itself. A beautiful ride through the jungle on a well-maintained dirt road, with a small creek crossing (hence the 4x4 necessity) was an exciting experience. The drive ends with a breath-taking view of the big gate, the house and the ocean behind it. We have rented nice properties in various parts of the world before, but Gorda Vista definitely makes you feel like you have arrived at a special place. Don't want to reveal too much here, so you can surprise yourself while exploring the house and the expansive property. It felt like we were in one of those celebrity photo shoots with the infinity pool, jungle surrounding and the open ocean view. The house and all the furnishings and accessories are high-quality and this certainly adds to the experience. Blending fruit/rum cocktails, grilling local fish and shrimp, swimming laps, exploring the garden and lazing on the terrace while being hypnotized by the view are only a few things that come to mind. The wildlife is all around you, including colorful and exciting sights and tranquilizing sounds throughout the day and amplifying at night. Bring binoculars and a good camera if you would like to see white-faced monkeys, toucans and a whole list of exotic yet friendly wild creatures.
Dominical, Uvita and Rio Baru area offer everything you could ever want on a vacation, you just need to open your mind and enjoy it all. Neil has all the suggestions and directions to the places to see and things to do, and his selection of recommendations is all spot-on. The Nayuca Waterfall horse-back tour is a must, as is the Hacienda Baru guided jungle tour if you're with kids.
We are a family of 4, with 2 kids age 10 and 11, and Gorda Vista was the perfect place for us. Thank you again, Neil. See you next year.

Nature Bound Gorda Vista has it all-
the view, the privacy, delightful garden space & paths and the close proximity to the beach, you do need a 4x4. Our family enjoyed the nature setting of this home. Waking up to the sound birds and hauler monkeys following with the playful whiteface monkeys- so playful & curious and falling a sleep to the frogs & geckos. Our children 4 & 10, enjoyed the swimming pool- our son learnt to swim! This home is very private, surrounded by jungle and we felt very secure, we truly experienced this was home away from home! Dominical area has many fun activities to offer- surfing, horseback to the falls, pristine and unique beaches. Manuel Antonio national park & beaches are beautiful! We've enjoyed reading our books on the wonderful sunny deck by the pool and in the shade of the outdoor living area, lounging ever so casually. Outdoor shower was very handy coming from beach excursions. BBQ area was great for home cooking with herbs near by to use. Fresh pineapple was our breakfast one morning. So fun and safe for children, we did not worry at all. It was a sad day when we had to depart. I would recommend this to anyone looking for some adventure or some R & R or both- Gorda Vista has it all!!!!

Gorgous jungle villa!
My friends at I had the best week at Gorda Vista! The most amazing location and unbelievable views. Hands down the best place any of us had ever or probably will ever(!) stay. Such an amazing deal for what you get, Neil was so helpful and accommodating. Had dinner prepared for us the first night by the chef-so delicious and perfect way to start the vaca. Surfing was awesome, loved all the different beaches and all within short drives. Loved all the activities but my favorite "activity" was just relaxing at the pool making drinks in the blender and looking out at the jungle AND ocean! Would love to come back soon!! Best vacation ever.

Our family stayed at Gorda Vista November 21-29. To say it was an unbelievable week would be an understatement. Neil was wonderful from the time I first inquired about the property through the week of our stay. He booked reservations for deep sea fishing with Luna tours, snorkeling with Mad About Diving, surfing with Dominical surf and adventures and zip lining at Osa Canopy Tours. If you needed anything Neil was always there. All the excursions that he lined up for us were fantastic and we would do them all again! The house and pool were everything that we could have hoped for and more. The pool was a huge hit with the kids. Thankfully the wildlife appeared before we left. We were able to see white faced and howler monkeys along with a HUGE iguana! The gardens are beautiful. We enjoyed walking down there everyday to see what new flowers opened or how the fruit was growing. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. It was the best week! We would return in a heartbeat. Pura Vida!

A Most Pleasant Multi-Sensory Experience
e stayed at Gorda Vista for 9 days (July 31-August 9, 2013). We were mesmerized by the beautiful views and sound of the ocean bay below, and the ever-changing sky reflected in the infinity pool and the sights and sounds of the jungle life, including the monkeys and the stream flowing near the house. We loved being immersed in such a friendly jungle with gorgeous jungle plants and fascinating wildlife nearby. Just being at the open design house was a most pleasant multi-sensory experience. The design and quality of the accommodations were outstanding. The open lounge area was so pleasant for "outdoor living", the kitchen was perfect for our family to prepare a meal together. The two couples were very comfortable in the two upstairs bedrooms with more gorgeous views even from the showers, while the teen-aged girls were comfortable sleeping in the living room using the fold-out couch with the downstairs full bath available. Every morning, it was such a joy to wake up in this tropical paradise. The deck was inviting for yoga and relaxing and the pool was inviting any time of the day for a swim with an incredible view. If you have little children you will need to always be aware of the attraction of the pool. When we first arrived, we drove up at night in the rain, and the rough, steep road was intimidating. Subsequent trips up the road were not bad once we got used to it. However, a 4WD is definitely recommended. The large lot makes one feel like you are alone in the jungle. We saw monkeys, toucans, peccaries, leaf-cutter ants and a wide variety of interesting reptiles and beautiful insects. We were amazed at the lack of mosquitoes at the villa. For activities, we were very busy exploring the many unique beaches, zip-lining, whitewater rafting, and playing in waterfalls and imagining what it would be like to have our own piece of paradise. We ate very well. There are many high quality restaurants with delicious fresh local food hidden around. Neil will give you suggestions and a guide book to help with your many choices. Also Neil can book some amazing adventures for you and answer any questions. It is hard to imagine that ANY place you could stay would have the jungle immersion, ocean views and sounds, pleasant open-air ambiance and such adventure calling as what we found at Gorda Vista!

Loved this house!
My family spent 9 days in Gorda Vista and can’t wait to return. The dirt road up the hill does require 4 wheel drive, but it’s not too scary as some people have mentioned. The house itself is majestic! We are talking lifestyles of the rich & famous! It was perfect for the three of us, with a little room to spare. The outdoor living space can’t be beat; fans to keep you cool, a gorgeous pool, bbq and a view that you never want to leave. The bedrooms & bathrooms are generous in size and have a/c, which we did use to keep us comfortable at night, but during the day the ocean breeze is enough to keep cool. We were greeted by many a creature during our stay, it was like our very own personal national geographic special! The location is perfectly set in the middle of Dominical & Uvita, where you can find food, groceries and even a walk in clinic should someone get an ear infection. : ) Neil, our property manager was a delight to work with, so easy going and cool…even helped coordinate a few activities for us, not to mention his many excellent recommendations on where to get fresh fish & other goodies…the mahi mahi we had melted in our mouth! We can’t say enough great things about this house & Neil, and we hope to get back to Costa Rica soon!

Shangri-La in CR
We found the house comfortable, and the view/outdoor experience FABULOUS. We very much enjoyed our stay! The lack of hooks/pegs for hanging towels and clothing in the bathroom was an annoyance, but was the only one. Everything else was terrific and just as the pictures show. Thanks Neil!

Owners response to review above
Thank you for your review and we appreciate your constructive points we always like to hear how we can improve the property and the guests experience. We have started to look for hooks that will fit with décor of the Villa and will be fitting these soon. Thanks Again EXTRAORDINARY!!! Staying at Gorda Vista was the best part of an awesome vacation !!!!! It felt like a home away from home. The view was amazing to see , and the ocean roaring at night was the icing on the cake !!!! The garden is great (though not at its full potential) we enjoyed it. The pictures do nothing for the actual experience of this home. Neil was Greatttt, very helpful & knowledgable. This vacation was our first experience abroad and I can't imagine what's going to beat the experience . I am so happy that we chose this home instead if a hotel , we would not have had the same experience and freedom !!!!! It's impossible to enjoy beautiful scenic Costa Rica from a hotel (my opinion) . You'll also need a 4wd vehicle to stay at Gorda Vista and to travel in Costa Rica period. This house is true to its specifications unlike some of the other properties we considered that we happened to see on the way (a lot of places were surrounded by dilapidated properties especially the condos) . You will not be disappointed. Food cooks differently up in the mountains so beware (we cooked 1x) . The monkeys and the birds sever as an alarm clock which added to the serenity. There was a family of Toucans and what seemed to be several families of white faces monkeys. This house is close enough, yet far enough away not too touristy. Perfect location!!!!! We plan to take our son back as his high school graduation gift. The tours are pricey but will not disappoint (diamanté verde tours & Karl was the best). P.S if you have a smart phone download a currency conversion calculator app, it was very useful. Don't forget to visit Manuel Antonio National Park & Quepos ( Mid World Zip line tour ) :)

Gorda Vista is Pura Vida!!
Let's just start by saying I was skeptical that such a beautiful property was so reasonably priced but Gorda Vista was all it was pictured to be. The view is actually better than pictured. The landscaping was flawless and the pool was to die for. It's extremely private, and you feel safe and right at home unlike staying in an expensive boxed in hotel. The kitchen is well stocked and ready for any needs you may have. We saw white faced monkeys, Howlers, and plenty of Tucans in the surrounding forrest daily. There were four adults in my group and we were more than comfortable. Neil the manager is a delight and made our stay even better. Just be sure you have a 4x4 vehicle as the property is in the mountains. I also recommend the Atv tour with Diamante Verde, Carl is the coolest guy and the tour is worth more than the price of admission. PURA VIDA!!!

best view of dominical
This house was amazing to say the least and the pictures do not do it justice. The privacy, infinity pool, gourmet kitchen, outdoor deck and grill, free internet, 360 deg views were just a few of my favorite things! The howler monkeys, birds ( toucans) frogs and more were daily visitors. Everything you needed was close by within 5 minutes of driving. ( 4 wheel drive a must for the short drive to the house-was an adventure in itself) Neil the house manager was VERY accomidating and helpful with tips of where to go and where not to/where to eat etc etc and always emailed me back in a timely manner. Words can't describe how great this vacation was and the surroundings. There were 4 of us (2 couples) which was a perfect amount of space! We hope to return in the furture. Loved loved this house and dominical!! 2 couples from montana and michigan

Thanks Doug and Janet for letting us stay in your Gorda Vista paradise. What an amazing place! I know we were the first family that stayed in your villa...so thanks. We absolutely loved it. The kids enjoyed all the incredible wild life that came to visit...monkeys, toads, geckos, frogs, tucans, and all kinds of tropical insects that were fascinating. We did the big circle starting in San Jose and going to Arenal, Monteverde, Jaco, and then staying at your villa for the week...what a great finish. Loved the pool, the outdoor bar (where I had my scotch at night and coffee in the morning...miss that!), the great kitchen for cooking our meals, the fantastic 50+" TV and 300+ library of movies, awesome working internet, nice outdoor grill....where to stop. Also appreciated your manager "Neil" and his great recommendations for fresh fish, groceries, pharmacy, tours, etc. Also nice having the two cell phones (although we had trouble working one of them). We look forward to coming back again some day soon. Best wishes from Holland, Michigan. Look us up if you are ever in our area!

Wow Gorda Vista aka Fat View. You'll have it all-the sky, sea and jungle. The house is incredible with its hotel quality construction but it really feels like home. The kitchen is a dream for any foodie to cook in. Being able to open the walls to the outside area really felt like you're living one with nature. Big bonus no mosquitoes! The pool with the lounge chairs was a welcome relief as was the outdoor shower. If you are lucky you will wake to the "song of the jungle" the Howler Monkeys in the trees right besides the house. A walk down the road is like a nature preserve .You will see toucans, tree frogs, lizards and Blue Morpho butterflies, etc. The garden path is a surprisingly good workout too. A waterfall swimming hole and Dominical Beach with its amenities is a short drive away. A 4x4 is definitely recommended. This place is a MUST STAY!! Thank you. We will be back.

We spent seven wonderful nights at the villa and everything you have read from the previous reviews is true. We drove over from Puerto Viejo which was about an eight hour drive over the central mountains and needless to say, we were tired, hungry and ready to relax. Our arrival could not have been handled more smoothly, Lupe was just finishing preparing for our arrival and Neil made us feel at home and welcome. There is an excellent grocery store just down the road in Uvita and we had a wonderful dinner and also bought fresh shrimp to grill at La Macha. Definitely do NOT miss watching the stars from the pool, it's an amazing experience. We took the Dolphin/Whale watching tour and although we saw no whales, we had a great time with good snorkeling. If you're looking for tropical elegance in an outstanding setting, this is the place to be!! Ted and Joe - Evanston, IL

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Gorda Vista. The house is very clean and well equipped. The outdoor living area was great for meals and relaxing out of the sun. The pool and deck were well used. The abundance of wildlife (toucans & monkeys) was a bonus. The views are outstanding. We will be back!!

Better than the Photos
Just returned from a week long stay at Gorda Vista, and I have to say it was awesome. Having rented vacation properties online before, and knowing that the properties aren't always as advertised, we were wondering how it would stack up to the pics that are posted. Wow! It is even better than we expected! The build quality on the house is outstanding and way above what you typically find in the area. Neil met us when we rolled into Dominical, and showed the property, explaining everything and answering all of our questions. The owners, Doug and Janet, came over the next day and brought us some coffee and visited for awhile. We had a troop of howler monkeys in the trees right next to the house, and there were white face monkeys nearby also, as well as toucans, parrots, iguanas and a Jesus lizard who spent his evenings at the top of one of the pillars by the pool. This house is definitely a premium find and we will be back. The Dominical/Uvita area is one of our favorite places for relaxation, but we also enjoy the numerous waterfalls (really nice one just down the road from the house) and beaches. Playa Ventanas is not to be missed. Osa Mountain Zipline was great, if you are adventurous. We bought fresh fish and shrimp from La Macha, which is very near the house, and grilled fresh veggies that we bought at the farmers market in San Isidro. You have to experience Tortilla Flats, get some wings and watch the sunset at Jolly Rogers, and check out Citrus (excellent dining in Ojachal). So much to do in the area if you are into getting out and exploring, but at the end of the day a cold Imperial, the Gorda Vista pool, and a nice sunset are pretty hard to beat.

Gorda Vista is an unusual combination of a luxurious, well planned, brand new property with breath taking views and a very professional manager living close by and always ready to help the newcomer. The house, pinned in the jungle slopes faces the Pacific from most of its windows as does its ample infinity pool. Wildlife traffic can be observed daily at the tree tops guarding the property on both sides. Plenty of unspoiled volcanic beaches and adventure travel type activities are available close-by, but the tenant is always thankful to have well supplied Gorda Vista to return to when the sun bites too much. Also near one finds good fresh fish restaurants and reasonably supplied supermarkets. The road up to the house, requires a well kept all terrain vehicle. The description and photos are accurate. The house is clean and kept and I recommend this property.

Small corner of paradise
My wife and I spent 5 wonderful but short-lived days at Gorda Vista and could not have had a more enjoyable experience. The house had the perfect design for the area as it opens up to the wonderful surroundings. The secluded settings were perfect for relaxing and privacy and enticed us to remain on the property as much as possible. We were not wanting for amenities and the owners were friendly and open about their experienced in CR. If you are looking for a house that welcomes you and enhances your Costa Rican experience, look no further.

Secluded Private Paradise
This property is just what the Doctor ordered for rest, rejuvenation and relaxation. It is located 500 feet on a hillside overlooking the Pacific ocean. The beach below is terrific for swimming and surfing. We visited seven different beaches all within a fifteen minute drive of the villa. Most are very secluded. The villa has everything a person would desire. The master bedroom is large with windows on two sides. The view of the ocean is something you never tire of when waking up in the morning. The master bathroom has a unique shower that has plenty of water pressure. The other bedroom also has a nice view and accompanying bathroom. Both rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans. We never used the air conditioning because of the wonderful breezes coming off the ocean. The kitchen is very well appointed and also has a nice view of the pool and ocean. Oodles of counter space including the large island. The fridge is large and the ice dispenser is a nice touch to keep your drinks cold. We used the barbecue quite often to grill the local fish. The living room area with flat screen T.V. is very comfortable and there are hundreds of movies to select. A nice way to end a relaxing day, watching a movie. The outdoor eating and lounge area beside the pool and overlooking the ocean is very enticing. You won't want to leave this area of the villa. Comfortable lounger and chairs are great to curl up on to read that new book. The infinity pool is crystal clear and perfect temperature. Being 45' long makes it perfect for swimming laps. It is a great way to start your day. The property itself is very secluded and private. It is on a hillside in the middle of a rain forest. The property is very secure and we felt safe our entire stay. The grounds are immaculate and great planning has been given to the design. On the lower plateau there are numerous fruit trees planted and I am sure they will provide bountiful amounts of fruit in the future. Overall, this is a gorgeous property that you will find totally relaxing with all the amenities anyone would want. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

After spending a few weeks at Gorda Vista earlier this year, I can definitely recommend it to those couples looking for an exclusive house with uniquely landscaped grounds and gardens, that combines upscale western comforts with the outdoor Costa Rican lifestyle. Carved out of a hillside and overlooking the ocean and an edible walking path garden, this gated property is secluded and completely private, though its only a short 10 minute drive to Dominical....make sure you have a 4 wheel drive though, the hill gets steep in sections and you cross a small stream in the wet season. The architecture and design of the house are truly one of a kind. Open concepts, retractable glass walls, handmade wooden furnishings, modern decor and fixtures that seamlessly blend the outdoor jungle, with indoor comforts. Private deck off the master bedroom, huge open glass and tile showers, large windows, modern marble counters in the kitchen, etc... No detail went overlooked in the design. All you need to bring is food and clothes. You'll spend most of your time poolside enjoying the large wooden deck, or sitting by the gardens on the veranda in the shade, sipping a cold drink from the wet bar, watching the kids splash in the infinity pool and feeling the cool ocean breeze flowing up the hillside. Although a humid and hot climate, we never used the air conditioning at all due to the breeze and the unique design of the airflow in the main house or the upper bedrooms. It's evident much thought went into the design so it never feels hot or stuffy inside. Astonishingly low in pests and insects, you'll be treated to untold varieties of monkeys and birds inhabiting the gardens and walking paths all bordering a lush jungle with cathedral like trees. The beach and Dominical are very close, but you'll have to drive unless you're feeling adventurous. We walked to the beach and back a few times but you'll need a dip in the pool or a quick splash in the outdoor shower afterwards to cool off. Gorda Vista is truly affordable luxury, nestled in the beautiful Costa Rican jungle. I will be back.

I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks at Gorda Vista during May of 2012 and it was, without a doubt, the best vacation I have ever had in my life. The poolside view is nothing short of majestic. Each morning was spent sitting by the infinity pool, sipping on fresh Costa Rican coffee looking out over the jungle canopy and down onto the ocean below. The views from the balcony are even better! This luxurious home has every possible amenity you could think of including a big screen TV, movies at your disposal, a microwave, dishwasher, laundry facilities and even air conditioning...but you’ll never need it. The unique architectural design keeps the home at a warm but comfortable temperature both day and night. This, coupled with the ocean breeze that flows up from the hillside creates a perfect, relaxing temperature...not too hot and not too cold. The walls facing the ocean are made of folding glass doors that open onto the poolside deck creating a very unique and open atmosphere. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s amazing. Beautiful cane ceilings can be found throughout the home and the luxurious design of the bathrooms are almost indescribable. There’s even an outdoor shower if you feel a little daring. Toucans, parrots and monkeys could frequently be seen travelling through the hillside and if you feel like going out on the town and listening to some live music you can do that, too. I absolutely love this place and I highly recommend you pay Gorda Vista a visit. I, for one, will definitely be going back. Pura Vida!
